To facilitate our mission we offer the following Programs:

  1. Learn to Play – This is our entry level program for the beginner athlete. No experience is necessary to participate in this program. The program is geared towards players aged 4-8, but athletes of all ages are welcome to particpate. Athletes are old enough to participate if they are comfortable enough to leave you at the gate. This program offers one hour of ice per week at the LaHaye Center. The on ice supervision is made up of LYHA Coaches and Liberty University Players & Coaches. On-Ice activities are very informal and focus on the basics of skating, and puck handling. Learn to Play is offered in 5 or 6 week sessions. We will be offering four sessions in the 2017-2018 Season. You may register and participate in each session individually.
    1. If you do not have equipment a limited supply can be borrowed from LYHA. Given our limited supply of equipment, it’s important to arrive early (60-90 minutes) on equipment distribution days.
    2. The 2017-2018 Cost for this progam is $60.00/session
  2. House League – If your player can skate well enough to keep up with the Learn to Play drills than we encourage you to move them into our recreational House League. The House leagues are only available to players age 4-12. Players 13 and above may participate in our Travel programs ONLY. This Program offers two hours of ice per week. 1 hour for practice and 1 hour for games. Practices are more formal and conducted using the USA Hockey suggested Station Training Model. LYHA coaches lead all of the drills/games. Our travel players also participate in this program and are encouraged to help the newer/younger kids with skill development. This is purely recreational and all ice times are at the LaHaye center.
    1. Participation in the program requires registration with USA Hockey. You can register at https://www.usahockeyregistration.com/login_input.action
    2. The 2017-2018 Cost for this program averages $650.00
  3. Travel Hockey – This is for our most competitive athletes looking to push their game. Travel Hockey will practice at the LaHaye center, but have games at other rinks in Charlottesville, Roanoke, Richmond, Raleigh, Hampton Roads and other locations of similar distance. U6-U12 Travel Hockey players will get to participate in the House league designated for their age group but will also have another hour of ice each week that is dedicated just for travel practice for a total of approximately 3 hours per week plus games/tournaments/jamborees.
    1. Participation in the program requires registration with USA Hockey. You can register at https://www.usahockeyregistration.com/login_input.action
    2. The 2017-2018 Cost for this program is:
      1. $850 for U6-U12
      2. $700 for U14-U18

Season: The typical hockey season runs from September through February, but can very slightly from year to year.
